Allyson and Chris recently came to my Boulder studio for a Collaborative Henna Belly Session that I worked on with Leah from Face Fiesta. The patterns and textures of the henna complimented those of the clothing Allyson selected, making for a unique, natural, and beautiful session. 

A very warm and joyful belated welcome to my beautiful nephew Jesper! Following up on my sister's mountain maternity session, I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing her, her husband Jona, and the little and latest addition to the family at their home in Boulder.

Every couple of years I enjoy photographing my close friend Elaine and her beautiful family- her two gorgeous children Sydney and Ian are growing up so fast! The slideshow below demonstrates the growth of the family over the last two years. I cannot believe how fast time flies and am appreciating each innocent, creative, childhood moment more now that my own daughter, Emma, just had her first birthday. Capturing the personality of children through candid images as they grow up is invaluable, so I am returning to New England this summer to once again photograph Elaine as well as extend a family portrait special to families in the area. We are honored to be a part of the Venus de Miles ride again this year and recently had the pleasure of photographing their youngest rider, Nicole. Nicole and her mother Kathy are featured as a mother-daughter duo in the Cycle and Style online magazine. Nicole's story is soon to be highlighted on the "She Pedals" blog as well.

 

On August 29^th, thousands of participants will ride through scenic Longmont on one of three different routes, which accommodate various skill levels. This annual ride benefits Greenhouse Scholars to support high-performing, under-resourced college students right here in Colorado. We wish the very best to Nicole and Kathy- Good luck ladies!

I was so excited to spend the afternoon hiking with my sister, her husband and their dog Ricco. I took this time as an opportunity to photograph her pregnancy. They are expecting their first child in early March...although I'm sure my sister wouldn't mind late February. I think I might be just as excited as they are to find out if I'll be welcoming a niece or nephew!

I had a fantastic time photographing Aimee Heckel, a journalist for the Daily Camera. Aimee is pregnant with her first child and found some time to celebrate her pregnancy with a unique "henna photo session". It was such a pleasure to work with this family again, this time with the newest little member, Carmen Josie. Even though our studio is in Boulder, shooting on location at their house in Longmont worked well- everyone was very relaxed and comfortable, and their son Caden enjoyed having his toys right there to play with. He has grown so much since the last time we saw him at Katie's maternity shoot we did earlier this year! Here are the many faces of Caden...

The natural light worked well with the backdrops we brought in- not only did the color pictures turn out great, but they also translated to black and white very nicely. It also was nice to have the props and cute little hats for Carmen- the combination of simple, natural infant photos and the pictures with the newborn sleep sac and hat makes for a well-rounded, adorable set of baby pictures.

This shoot was a joy- we are excited to watch this family continue to grow and have fun together!

I met Katie today -who is expecting her daughter in a few weeks!- when she came into the studio here in Boulder with her husband Chris and their son Caden to do the Henna-Maternity session we offer. With Chris and Caden watching and playing in the studio, Leah from Face Fiesta painted a beautiful, unique Henna design for Katie. Next, we took pictures in the studio, not only capturing the striking art, but also the family sharing these moments of excitement before the baby's arrival. Witnessing Caden interacting with his parents and the Henna art on Katie was great fun- his anticipation for a little sibling translated well through the photographs. We then took the shoot outside to a nearby field and continued to document the family's obvious joy- the results are inimitable and quite stunning!
